School Conducts Research and Exchange Visits to Southwest Jiaotong University and Chongqing University

To strategically plan the School's 15th Five-Year Development Blueprint, advance the adjustment and optimization of disciplines and programs, and explore new pathways for inter-university cooperation, a delegation from the School of Languages and Communication Studies, Beijing Jiaotong University, led by Sun Wenbo, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, visited the School of Foreign Languages at Southwest Jiaotong University and Chongqing University from May 28 to 30, 2025. The delegation also included Wang Jianrong, Director of the Department of English Language Teaching, and Wang Xiaoyi, Director of the Teaching Affairs Office.

On May 28, the delegation arrived at the School of Foreign Languages, Southwest Jiaotong University. On May 29, they attended the "Symposium on Foreign Language Education Reform in the New Era and the 40th Anniversary Celebration of the School of Foreign Languages" held by Southwest Jiaotong University.



At the event, Sun Wenbo delivered a keynote speech titled "Building a School-Based Public English Curriculum System Empowered by Digital Intelligence". His presentation explored the theoretical innovation and practical pathways of foreign language education amid digital transformation, sharing BJTU's experience in developing a digitally empowered, school-based public English curriculum system. He emphasized the need for foreign language education to embrace artificial intelligence and proactively adapt to the new landscape of intelligent education.



During a focused discussion that followed, the delegation engaged in in-depth and pragmatic exchanges with Li Chengjian, Secretary of the CPC Committee of the School of Foreign Languages at Southwest Jiaotong University; Yu Senlin, Dean; and faculty representatives including Chen Lin. The two sides exchanged valuable insights on key topics such as discipline development in foreign language and literature, innovation in graduate recruitment and training models, and the cultivation of international talents and expansion of global cooperation.

On May 30, the delegation continued its visit to the School of Foreign Languages, Chongqing University, where they met with Li Xiaohui, Secretary of the CPC Committee; Professor Ou Ling from the Department of College English Teaching; Feng Julan, Deputy Director of the Foreign Language Education Center; and Feng Ling, Academic Secretary.



The two sides held in-depth discussions on crucial aspects of foreign language discipline development, including mechanisms for introducing and nurturing high-level talents, career pathways for young teachers, optimization of faculty evaluation and service systems, branding and specialization of academic programs. Both parties shared innovative practices and challenges encountered in promoting the connotative development of their respective schools.





Through these research and exchange activities, the delegation gained valuable insights into the advanced concepts, successful experiences, and innovative practices of the Schools of Foreign Languages at Southwest Jiaotong University and Chongqing University in areas such as talent cultivation, scientific research, discipline development, faculty building, and academic administration. These findings provide important references for the School in formulating a high-quality 15th Five-Year Development Plan. This visit also deepened mutual understanding and friendship between the schools and laid a solid foundation for future cooperation. The School will carefully review and integrate the outcomes of the visits, align them with its own context, and scientifically plan future disciplinary structures, while continuing to strengthen research capacity and faculty development to promote the School's high-quality growth.
