Department of Communication Studies Conducts Joint Learning and Party Building Activity at Xiaomi Group

On the afternoon of May 9, the Faculty Party Branch of the Department of Communication Studies from the School of Languages and Communication Studies, Beijing Jiaotong University organized a joint learning and Party building activity with the Third Party Branch of Xiaomi Corporation's Platform Department. Wen Yingchun, Deputy Secretary and Vice Dean of the School, and Liu Kai, Vice Dean, participated in the visit. The discussion was attended by Zhang Shaoliang, Party Building Advisor and Administration Department General Manager of Xiaomi Group, and Xu Hui, Director of the Party Committee Office.



During the meeting, Liu Kai introduced the development of foreign language and journalism programs at the School, highlighting the talent cultivation approach that emphasizes interdisciplinary integration, AI empowerment, and global perspectives. He stated that the School will increasingly focus on aligning educational development with pressing national needs and socially expected application scenarios, expressing anticipation for enhanced collaboration with Xiaomi in internships, international services, and information exchange. Wen Yingchun thanked Xiaomi for their meticulous preparations and provided an overview of student internships and employment, expressing hopes for strengthened cooperation in promoting student practical experience and career development.

General Manager Zhang Shaoliang shared specific initiatives through which Xiaomi has consistently upheld Party building as a guiding principle since its establishment, fostering mutual reinforcement between Party building and business operations. Innovative approaches such as "establishing branches on business lines", "Party building assistants", and "secretary talk shows" provided significant inspiration. Zhang Jie, Secretary of the Faculty Party Branch of the Department of Communication Studies, exchanged views on Party building innovations with Xu Hui, Director of Xiaomi's Party Committee Office.

Prior to the meeting, representatives from Xiaomi's Third Party Branch accompanied faculty members on a visit to the Xiaomi Home Global Flagship Store, providing firsthand exposure to cutting-edge technological products and intelligent trends. The Faculty Party Branch of the Department of Communication Studies will use this joint activity as an opportunity to further advance Party building in guiding teaching and research, enhance understanding of national technology strategies, promote interdisciplinary development, and better serve national needs.
