Party Committee of School of Languages and Communication Studies Holds Mobilization Meeting for “Remaining True to Our Original Aspiration and Keeping Our Mission Firmly in Mind” Thematic Education

On the afternoon of September 19, the Party Committee of the School of Languages and Communication Studies at Beijing Jiaotong University held a mobilization and deployment meeting for the “Remaining True to Our Original Aspiration and Keeping Our Mission Firmly in Mind” thematic education. Wang Hongying, Secretary of the School’ s Party Committee, delivered a mobilization and deployment speech. Du Yongping, Leader of the Second Supervision Group for the “Remaining True to Our Original Aspiration and Keeping Our Mission Firmly in Mind” Thematic Education at Beijing Jiaotong University, attended the meeting and addressed the attendees. Also present to provide guidance were Deputy Leader Wang Xuhou, member Yan Changli, and liaison officer Sun Xiangqi. The meeting was chaired by Gao Yongfeng, Deputy Secretary of the School’ s Party Committee. School leaders at the department level and above, as well as all faculty and student Party members, participated in the meeting.

On behalf of the School’ s Party Committee, Wang Hongying delivered the mobilization and deployment speech, emphasizing that carrying out the “Remaining True to Our Original Aspiration and Keeping Our Mission Firmly in Mind” thematic education across the entire Party is an important decision made at the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, holding special significance as the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’ s Republic of China approaches. From the overarching requirements of “staying true to our original aspiration, undertaking our mission, identifying gaps, and ensuring implementation” to the basic principles of “focusing on the theme and main tasks, addressing problem-oriented issues, leading by example from the top, and integrating efforts throughout,” the key focuses of the thematic education were clarified, along with the learning requirements for cadres at the department level and above, as well as faculty and student Party members. The deployment was outlined in the form of task lists and timelines, emphasizing the integration of learning and action, as well as the connection between self-examination and rectification. All Party cadres, faculty, and students of the School were called upon to enhance their political stance, deeply study and understand the spirit of the President Xi Jinping’ s important speeches and the significance of the thematic education; accurately grasp the goals and requirements, and courageously undertake the mission of fostering virtue through education; effectively advance work deployments, implement key measures of the thematic education, strengthen study and education, conduct in-depth research, thoroughly examine problems, and ensure rectification and implementation; and comprehensively strengthen organizational leadership to guarantee the effectiveness of the thematic education.

On behalf of the university’s supervision group for the “Remaining True to Our Original Aspiration and Keeping Our Mission Firmly in Mind” thematic education, Du Yongping delivered an important speech, elaborating on the significant meaning, fundamental tasks, and specific goals of the thematic education. In line with the central government’ s deployment and the university’ s requirements, and in conjunction with the supervision group’ s responsibilities, he provided theoretical, guiding, and targeted suggestions for the School to carry out the thematic education, clarifying the approach and tasks for implementing the thematic education to high standards and with quality. Du Yongping vividly elaborated on the goals of “gaining theoretical knowledge, receiving ideological and political baptism, demonstrating responsibility in work and entrepreneurship, solving problems for the people, and setting an example of integrity and self-discipline.” He also put forward specific requirements tailored to the characteristics of the School regarding “ensuring that ideological understanding, problem examination, rectification implementation, and organizational leadership are all in place.” His speech not only provided guidance for the School to carry out the thematic education but also served as a down-to-earth Party lecture for the attending faculty and student Party members.

At the meeting, the School’ s Party Committee distributed the the summary discourse from President Xi Jinping about Remaining True to Our Original Aspiration and Keeping Our Mission Firmly in Mind and “Remaining True to Our Original Aspiration and Keeping Our Mission Firmly in Mind” Thematic Education Study Materials to all Party members. The materials compile important speeches by the President Xi Jinping at meetings such as the “Remaining True to Our Original Aspiration and Keeping Our Mission Firmly in Mind” thematic education work conference, the 15th collective study session of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee, the Party building work conference of central and state organs, and during inspections in Inner Mongolia with guidance on the thematic education. They also include the President Xi Jinping’ s important speeches at the National Education Conference, the National Conference on Ideological and Political Work in Higher Education Institutions, and the Symposium of Teachers of Ideological and Political Theory Courses. Additionally, the materials feature the exemplary deeds of contemporary role models such as Li Baoguo, Huang Danian, Zhong Yang, Zhang Fuqing, and Huang Wenxiu, as well as the inspiring stories of senior professors who relocated to support the development of Jiaotong University in the west, the “Eight Hundred Warriors” of Harbin Institute of Technology, and figures recognized in “Touching BJTU” campaigns.

This mobilization and deployment for the thematic education was comprehensively carried out for all faculty and student Party branches of the School. The meeting required that, going forward, each Party branch hold branch committee meetings and general membership meetings to study and implement the spirit of the conference, formulate branch education plans, organize thematic education activities, address practical problems with determination, and ensure the effectiveness of the thematic education.
