On the morning of March 14, the opening ceremony of the first 2023 training program on retired power battery recycling and reuse (recycling and cascade utilization direction) was held in the lecture hall of Tangshan Research Institute. Minming and Wang Zanguo, Senior Engineers from the School of Electrical Engineering, Beijing Jiaotong University; Wang Dayong, Director of Tangshan Research Institute; and Dong Jingzhu, Vice Director, attended the ceremony. Li Haitao, Deputy Secretary-General of the Professional Committee on New Energy Battery Recycling and Utilization, presided over the opening ceremony.

Wang Zhenpo stated that power batteries are gradually entering the stage of largescale retirement. Proper recycling and utilization of retired power batteries is of great significance for ensuring social safety and protecting the ecological environment. He expressed the hope that trainees would gain practical knowledge from the program, apply what they have learned in their future work, actively participate in further training, strengthen communication and exchanges, learn from one another, and jointly promote talent development and industry progress.

In his speech, Dong Jingzhu introduced the historical ties between Beijing Jiaotong University and Tangshan, the construction and operation of Tangshan Research Institute, and its future development goals. He hoped that this training program could serve as a starting point for mutual exchange and learning, building friendships, deepening understanding, and exploring cooperation opportunities in talent cultivation, technological innovation, university-enterprise cooperation, and achievement transformation.

The training program was organized by the Professional Committee on New Energy Battery Recycling and Utilization of the China Association of Industrial Energy Conservation and Cleaner Production, and hosted by Beijing Jiaotong University Tangshan Research Institute and Beijiao Zhixing (Beijing) Education Technology Co., Ltd. The four-day program invited multiple industry experts and used a combination of theory, practical training, site visits, and interactive exchanges to provide instruction for over 60 trainees. The program aims to promote high-quality, sustainable development in the retired power battery recycling and reuse industry, contributing to the new energy vehicle industry and green development.
