The Fourth "Spanish Bridge" Bilingual Interpretation Contest Successfully Concluded

On May 24, the Fourth "Spanish Bridge" Bilingual Interpretation Contest was successfully held at the Multifunctional Hall of the Student Activity Center, organized by the Spanish Language Department of the School of Languages and Communication Studies, Beijing Jiaotong University and the Spanish Association. The event was attended by all faculty members of the Spanish program, all Spanish major students, Spanish enthusiasts from the university, abroad students, and alumni.



This year's "Spanish Bridge" contest featured three main categories: speech, singing, and calligraphy, along with activities such as a Salsa dance experience. In the speech competition, Zhang Jiaxin delivered a speech titled "Artificial Intelligence and Us" (Inteligencia artificial y nosotros), sharing profound reflections on the prevalence of AI today. Song Yutong's speech "University Life" (La vida de la universidad) recounted her experiences and thoughts during her college years.





During the intermission, Hu Keming energized the audience with a dance performance to "History-EXO", captivating everyone with rhythmic and powerful moves and pushing the atmosphere to a climax.



In the singing competition, Yu Xingchen's soft vocals immersed the audience in the sorrowful story of "You Left This Place" (Te fuiste de aquí). Zhao Jingxuan's performance of "The Same Sun" (El mismo sol) conveyed the passion and romance of the Mediterranean, advocating for peace and friendship under the same sky. Wang Jiahui presented "Viva la Vida", a classic anthem celebrating life, filled with confidence in a better future. Zhu Ziyi moved the audience with her emotional rendition of "It Was Dark" (Era oscuro), illustrating the interplay between darkness and light. Finally, Zhang Fei and Emily teamed up for "Blame Me" (Échame la culpa), showcasing the vibrancy of Spanish music with their dynamic rhythm and lively interaction. Yu Xingchen stood out in the singing category with his unique voice, securing first place.



In the calligraphy competition, participants combined calligraphy with painting, using flowing lines to tell stories from the Spanish-speaking world. The works of Liu Yuanke, Zhang Haoxiang, and Wang Yaping stood out and won the top three awards.



During the performance segment, students from Spanish Class 2401 performed the song "Mojito", whose lighthearted melody transported the audience to the streets of Havana. Spanish Class 2301 sang "Superhero", paying tribute to every ordinary yet hardworking individual. Xie Xiaoqi performed "So Many People in This World" with ethereal and melodious vocals, conveying warmth and emotion through her singing. Wang Yue'er delivered a sweet and vibrant performance of "How Far I'll Go", showcasing the power of dreams.



He Yu and Song Yutong presented a dance titled "Ritmo Latino", treating the audience to a visual feast with their Latin ballroom moves set to energetic music. Hu Keming, Lu Zhou, and Yi Mulan performed "Flying Apsaras", displaying professional dance skills that highlighted Eastern aesthetics.



In the dubbing showcase, groups of students vividly recreated classic scenes from "Inside Out 2(Del Revés 2)", "The Secret Life of Pets (Mascotas)", and "Garfield: The Perfect Pizza (Garfield: La pizza perfecta)".

Finally, after judging and voting, the faculty panel presented awards to the winners in the dubbing, speech, singing, and calligraphy categories. The Fourth "Spanish Bridge" Bilingual Interpretation Contest at Beijing Jiaotong University concluded successfully. Participants gathered for a group photo and, led by guest performer Ema, relaxed by learning Salsa dance steps.



The Spanish program of the School maintains a student-centered approach, exploring the distinctive features of the discipline. Through this event, it has used cultural means to jointly build the "soul" and "form" of first-class undergraduate program development.
