The final of the 1st National Undergraduate Forum on Spanish Major in Universities came to a successful conclusion on June 5th, 2023. Three undergraduates admitted in 2019 from the Spanish major of the School of Languages and Communication Studies in our university, namely Ma Xinyue, Ju Zhenhe and Qiu Yuyan, who were selected through strict internal assessment, all succeeded in advancing to the final. Eventually, Ma Xinyue won the Second Prize in the Translation Group, and Ju Zhenhe claimed the Second Prize in the International and Area Studies Group. Their supervisors are Ms. Liu(Liu Ying) and Ms. Wang(Wang Fei) respectively. Hosted by Zhejiang University, this forum marked the first academic forum specifically for undergraduates majoring in Spanish in China, attracting a total of 86 students from universities across the country. The competition was divided into five groups, namely Literature, Comparative Literature and Intercultural Studies, Translation, Linguistics, and International and Area Studies. Ms. Liang(Liang Jing), in charge of the Spanish major in our university, was invited to serve as a judge for the Linguistics Group. The Spanish major of our university attached great importance to the organization and guidance for this competition. Through internal selection, one student was chosen to compete in each of the three fields, Translation, International and Area Studies, and Linguistics. The outstanding award results have fully demonstrated the diversity of talent training orientations of the Spanish major in our university, and also stand as another significant achievement in the development of this major as a National First-Class Undergraduate Program.
