School of Languages and Communication Studies Holds 2019 “Listening Day” Teacher-Student Symposium

Amidst the ongoing thematic education campaign “Remaining True to Our Original Aspiration and Keeping Our Mission Firmly in Mind,” the School of Languages and Communication Studies held a “Listening Day” symposium on the afternoon of October 17 in Room 605 of Siyuan West Building. The aim was to better understand students’ needs, address their academic and daily life challenges, and improve the School’ s talent cultivation and management services. Attendees included members of the School’ s Party and administrative leadership, heads of departments and laboratories, relevant faculty from the Teaching Affairs Office, Graduate Affairs Office, and the Youth League Committee, as well as over 30 undergraduate and graduate student representatives.

During the symposium, participants spoke freely and actively raised issues. Students brought up a series of questions regarding campus and School resources, program offerings, course arrangements, course selection management, career development, and academic research. The attending leaders and teachers patiently addressed each concern, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere.

In conclusion, Party Secretary Wang Hongying summarized the symposium. She emphasized that the School would work on improving its services based on the students’ feedback to better support their academic and daily life needs. For issues within the School’ s purview, the leadership and relevant staff would implement optimizations as soon as possible. Matters beyond the School’ s authority would be promptly communicated to the appropriate departments. For issues requiring further investigation, the School would organize specialized discussions to identify root causes and gradually resolve them, striving to provide higher-quality services for students’ growth.
