Beijing TV Praises Beijing Jiaotong University's "Yiluxing" Volunteer Tutoring Initiative (2020-04-07)

During the pandemic, the "Yiluxing" volunteer association of the School of Languages and Communication Studies at Beijing Jiaotong University launched a public welfare tutoring initiative. Over 80 students actively signed up to participate, with more than 30 volunteers successfully matched with children. Currently, while university students have not yet returned to campus, these 80-plus volunteers, spread across the country, have become little teachers and good friends to students in various areas. The activity has proceeded smoothly and garnered widespread praise. Beijing TV News specifically praised "Yiluxing" for its contributions to frontline workers and their families during the pandemic, featuring three students in its report.

Freshman Liang Xinyu and Third-Grader Zhiyuan

Zhiyuan's father and grandmother both work for their community committee and have been consistently busy with community pandemic prevention and control work. His mother works in court logistics and is also often occupied. As Zhiyuan needed extra support in mathematics, his mother actively signed up upon seeing the University's online tutoring initiative. During the tutoring sessions, Liang Xinyu and the child built a strong friendship.

Sophomore Zheng Tongwei and 7th-Grader Shuhua

Both of Shuhua's parents are doctors. During the pandemic, they often worked through the night on the front lines, sometimes having limited time to attend to their daughter's studies. Consequently, Zheng Tongwei became Shuhua's tutor. After a period of study, Shuhua showed noticeable improvement. To express her gratitude, Shuhua's mother wrote a special letter of thanks to "Yiluxing".

Sophomore Zhu Wuchang and Fifth-Grader Yirui

Yirui's father is a worker who needed to continue working outside during the pandemic, while her mother was busy caring for her younger siblings. By chance, Yirui's mother signed her up for the tutoring program. To help improve the child's English grades, Zhu Wuchang put considerable thought into designing a personalized English curriculum. As a result, Yirui's English skills have improved significantly!

During the nationwide fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, the tutoring activities of the "Yiluxing" volunteers embody the responsibility and commitment of university students. The coverage by Beijing TV is recognition of this volunteer work by university students. "Yiluxing" is always on the road!
