School Holds Online Summary Meeting of "Remain True to Our Original Aspiration and Keep Our Mission Firmly in Mind" Thematic Education and Party Branch Secretaries' Work Report Evaluation Meeting (2020-04-10)

On the afternoon of April 9, 2020, the School of Languages and Communication Studies held an online summary meeting of the "Remain True to Our Original Aspiration and Keep Our Mission Firmly in Mind" thematic education and a work report evaluation meeting for Party branch secretaries on Tencent Meeting. More than 30 participants attended the meeting, including members of the Party Committee of the School, secretaries of faculty and staff Party branches, secretaries and committee members of student Party branches, undergraduate and postgraduate counselors, and full-time organizational staff.

Wang Hongying, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, summarized the "Remain True to Our Original Aspiration and Keep Our Mission Firmly in Mind" thematic education from five aspects: solidly carrying out learning and education, conducting extensive and in-depth investigation and research, accurately and profoundly examining problems, effectively promoting rectification and implementation, and the School's characteristic work. She focused on reporting the progress of rectification and implementation of the thematic education, and explained in detail the completed work and ongoing work so far in comparison with the rectification and implementation list. Meanwhile, she took the epidemic prevention and control work as an important practice to consolidate and deepen the thematic education, and clarified the direction of Party building work in combination with the key work of the School in 2020.

Previously, at the School's 2020 work conference, the Party Committee of the School had summarized and reviewed the development of the thematic education for the leading teams of various departments (centers), discipline responsible professors, all professors, all administrative staff of the School office, and all counselors. Through two full summaries, the effectiveness of the thematic education work has been continuously deepened.

Subsequently, the secretaries of the student Party branches delivered work reports, summarizing their work from aspects such as in-depth study and implementation of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the implementation of the "Seven Key Competences" requirements of the "Benchmarking and Striving for Excellence" construction plan, and the progress of rectification and implementation. They also reflected on the problems existing in the branch work during this period, conducted in-depth analysis, and clarified the ideas and directions for future work.

The School has fully standardized the evaluation and assessment of Party branch secretaries' work in Party building, adopting a combination of daily work evaluation, on-site supervision and inspection, and centralized work report evaluation and assessment. In terms of daily work evaluation, the focus is on inspecting the filling of branch manuals and the conduct of organizational life, and summarizing and feeding back the results of each inspection. In the centralized work report session, the secretaries of faculty and staff Party branches are divided into on-site reports and written reports. On-site reports cover all faculty and staff branch secretaries every two years; since all on-site reports were completed last year, written reports are adopted this year. Due to frequent changes and adjustments, the secretaries of student Party branches conduct on-site reports every year.

Finally, Gao Yongfeng, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the School, made comments on the work reports of the Party branch secretaries on behalf of the Party Committee of the School. He fully affirmed the work of the branch secretaries and deployed the work for the next stage, requiring all branches to actively think about and carefully plan the role of Party members during the epidemic prevention and control period, online organizational life, and Party member development, and strengthen branch construction in accordance with the standards of Beijing's advanced universities in Party building inspection.
