School of Languages and Communication Studies Convenes 2020 Annual Work Conference (2020-03-28)

On the afternoon of March 26, 2020, the School of Languages and Communication Studies convened its 2020 Annual Work Conference via Tencent Meeting. The conference was attended by over 40 participants, including all members of the School’s leadership team, Party Committee members, heads of all departments (centers), academic discipline lead professors, all professors, all administrative staff of the School's offices, and all student counselors.

Wang Hongying, Party Secretary of the School, outlined the basic situation of the School's pandemic prevention and control efforts and expressed sincere gratitude to all faculty and staff for their hard work and contributions in combating the pandemic and maintaining normal teaching and research activities. She reviewed and summarized the implementation of the "Remain True to Our Original Aspiration and Keep our Mission Firmly in Mind" thematic education campaign and reported on the progress of various corrective measures.

Aligned with the key tasks for 2020, Secretary Wang Hongying deployed the School's work across four key areas: "Enhancing Political Standpoint and Strengthening Responsibility to Resolutely Win the Battles Against the Pandemic and Poverty Alleviation"; "Remain True to Our Original Aspiration, Keep our Mission Firmly in Mind and Comprehensively Strengthening Party Leadership and Construction Within the School"; "Advancing Reform, Strengthening Foundations, and Enhancing Substance to Further Improve the Quality and Level of Development"; "Balancing Cultural and Institutional Development to Pool Positive Energy for Reform and Progress". She particularly emphasized that the School's work in 2020 must scientifically plan the development goals for the 14th Five-Year Plan period, strengthen faculty development, seize the opportunities presented by the "Excellence in Journalism and Communication 2.0" Initiative and the "New Liberal Arts" construction, deepen the development of first-class academic programs, and focus collective efforts on improving the quality of talent cultivation.

Finally, members of the leadership team provided work suggestions and requirements from the perspective of their respective areas of responsibility.
