Spanish Students Achieve Excellent Results in a National Competition [2025-09-19]



The preliminary results of the 2025 National Spanish Star Speech Contest, themed "Connecting the World with Intelligence, Communicating the Future with Language", were recently announced. A total of 16 contestants nationwide clinched the first prize and earned a spot in the finals, while another 16 secured second place, 19 were awarded third place, and 19 received commendation awards. Eight students from the Spanish major at the School of Language and Communication Studies excelled in the preliminary round.

This competition is hosted by Centro Conjunto de Investigación Real Academia Española-Shanghai International Studies University, organized by the School of European and Latin American Studies at Shanghai International Studies University, and co-organized by Shanghai Foreign Language Education Press. It is supported by the RAE-SISU Joint Research Center Fund and the Instituto Cervantes. Targeting undergraduate students majoring in Spanish at regular institutions of higher education across the country, it stands as a large-scale, high-level, and highly influential brand event within the Spanish language community of domestic universities.

The competition responds to the new demands for talent in the digital age, emphasizing the educational philosophy of "language + technology". It aims to guide foreign language talents in the new era to enhance their comprehensive qualities amidst globalization and digitalization, enabling them to become high-quality compound professionals equipped with international perspectives, humanistic qualities, and digital capabilities.
