On the afternoon of October 24, 2019, the School of Languages and Communication Studies held an undergraduate class advisor meeting in the High-Speed Rail Hall of Siyuan West Building. The meeting was chaired by Gao Yongfeng, Deputy Party Secretary of the School and Head of the Student Affairs Group. Attendees included Geng Meifang, Director of the Student Affairs Office, counselors Sun Shuangxing and Sun Lixiang, as well as all undergraduate class advisors.

First, the counselors for each grade provided an overview of the current situation and ongoing work in their respective grades. They reported on the assessment of scholarships for the 2018–2019 academic year, academic warnings, and postgraduate recommendations. Additionally, they offered further reminders and guidelines regarding psychological support, safety education, leave request procedures, and employment-related work.

Next, each class advisor reported on the status of their classes and highlighted key challenges in their work. They also shared opinions and suggestions on the School’ s operations, as well as on ideological education and student management, and discussed plans for future initiatives.

In conclusion, Deputy Secretary Gao Yongfeng responded to the advisors’ feedback and suggestions. He outlined arrangements for carrying out a major study and discussion campaign among undergraduates under the theme “Cultivating Morality, Gaining Knowledge, and Serving the Nation.” Drawing from research findings related to thematic education, he also delivered a Party lecture on strengthening integrated talent cultivation and advancing the implementation of the “Three-Wide Education” model. Furthermore, he introduced and explained the School’ s approaches to reforming academic mentorship, enhancing coordination between student management and teaching management, and standardizing public services.

Class advisors play a crucial role in students’ ideological and political education. This meeting also served as a research session under the thematic education campaign “Remaining True to Our Original Aspiration and Keeping Our Mission Firmly in Mind,” holding significant importance for comprehensively understanding students’ ideological and academic dynamics and reviewing issues in the School’ s educational work.
