The discussions centered on evolving translation teaching models and practices in the context of rapidly advancing generative AI and large language models, as well as shifting industry demands for foreign language talent.

The delegation included Ma Li, Party Branch Secretary of the English Department; Feng Lei, Associate Chair of the English Department and Director of the MTI Center; Li Lanxia, Associate Chair of the English Department, Gao Ge, Associate Director of Department of English Language Teaching, along with foreign language faculty members Gong Yubo, He Li, Yao Yazhi, and Chen Jingyu. They were welcomed by Yang Na, Head of Baidu Translate's R&D team, Product Lead Wan Xing, and other team members.

Baidu Translate detailed its core strengths in artificial intelligence and natural language processing, presenting a range of user-oriented products and enterprise-level solutions. The team also elaborated on current university-oriented initiatives—covering project concepts, application models, and implementation cases—and highlighted how Baidu's expertise in big data, deep learning, and multimodal understanding enables the platform to provide both advanced translation tools and robust resource support for teachers and students. These efforts are part of Baidu's broader commitment to deepening the application of intelligent translation in education and supporting the continuous improvement of foreign language teaching and research.

During the exchange, the two sides explored potential collaboration in several areas, including the use of Baidu Translate in foreign language classrooms, student internships at the company, and the development of discipline-specific academic competitions leveraging the Baidu Translate platform. They also exchanged ideas on multimodal and cross-lingual machine translation capabilities and discussed developments in vertical domain modeling.

The visit proved substantive and productive. By focusing on translation teaching as an entry point, it helped advance digital-intelligent competencies in foreign language education while establishing a practical platform for student internships—paving the way for renewed momentum in the School's development.
