WAGO Global Executives Visit School of Languages and Communication Studies to Explore Partnership Opportunities [2025-07-05]

On the morning of July 3, 2025, a delegation from German-based WAGO Group visited the School of Languages and Communication Studies at Beijing Jiaotong University to discuss potential industry-academic collaboration and talent development. The delegation included Ms. Kathrin Fricke, Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Organization of WAGO Global; Ms. Wang Fang, Chief Financial Officer of WAGO China; Ms. An Yang, Human Resources Manager of WAGO China; and Ms. Xing Yadi, Assistant Chief Financial Officer of WAGO China. They were welcomed by Professor Li Bing, Chair of the Department of Communication Studies; Associate Professor Huang Biaowen, Associate Chair of the Department of Communication Studies; and Guo Jing, Faculty Member of the Department of European and Asian Languages.



Deepening University-Enterprise Cooperation to Cultivate Global Talent

During the meeting, An Yang, Human Resources Manager of WAGO China, provided an overview of WAGO's global presence. Founded in Germany over 70 years ago, WAGO is a world-leading provider of electrical interconnection and automation solutions, with 31 subsidiaries and more than 9,000 employees worldwide. Since its establishment in Tianjin in 1997, WAGO Electronics (Tianjin) Co., Ltd. has maintained a strong presence in China and has been repeatedly recognized as a "Best Employer" for its employee development programs.

Ms. Kathrin Fricke, Senior Vice President of Human Resources and Organization of WAGO Global, highlighted Germany's dual education system, which combines theoretical instruction with hands-on training through close collaboration between companies and educational institutions. She expressed interest in building a long-term partnership with Beijing Jiaotong University to develop talent pathways suited to the Chinese market.

Leveraging Academic Strengths to Explore New Collaborative Directions

Associate Professor Huang Biaowen, Associate Chair of the Department of Communication Studies, introduced the university's disciplinary strengths and the School's innovative "New Liberal Arts" initiatives. Noting that the Department of Communication has already built partnerships with 18 internet and technology firms, he proposed several cooperation avenues with WAGO, including ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) research, localized branding for multinational corporations, and innovation in industrial intelligent connectivity.

Ms. Wang Fang, Chief Financial Officer of WAGO China, commended the university's academic quality and talent development model. She emphasized that WAGO's sustainable growth in China relies on strong local talent and looks forward to advancing concrete projects in industry-academic integration and student internships.



Joint Development for High-Quality Student Employment

Professor Li Bing, Chair of the Department of Communication Studies, stated that the School will continue to expand collaboration with leading global enterprises through inbound and outbound engagement, creating more internship and career opportunities for students while supporting corporate talent acquisition.

The Department of Communication at the School of Language and Communication Studies, Beijing Jiaotong University, remains committed to outcome-based education (OBE) and industry collaboration.
