On the afternoon of May 8, Wang Dayong, Dean of the Tangshan Research Institute of Beijing Jiaotong University, along with Vice Deans Dong Jingzhu and Yao Kai, conducted an on-site inspection of the Phase III construction project. They oversaw the progress of construction, quality control, site safety, and pandemic prevention and control measures. They were accompanied by Zhang Yi, Commander of the Phase III Project Headquarters; Sun Lianbao, Project Manager; Li Jiazhi, Director of the Institute’s Asset Management Office; Ma Qun, Director of the Institute Office; and other relevant staff. The Institute leadership inspected key construction sites, including the Siyuan Building A, Tianyou Auditorium, the new North Gate, Siyuan Building C, Yifu Library, the Science and Technology Building, Apartment Buildings No. 1 and 4, the Earthquake Engineering Building, the demolition and reconstruction site of Laboratory Building No. 8, and sports facilities. Zhang Yi provided an overview of the construction organization, schedule, quality, and safety management for each individual building. The Institute leaders inquired in detail about the project timelines, impacts of the pandemic, and existing challenges. They engaged in on-site discussions and offered suggestions regarding material selection, scheduling, design details, worker management, and the joint pandemic prevention and control measures for the renovation projects. The Institute leadership extended gratitude to the municipal government, Tangshan University, the Municipal Architectural Planning and Design Institute, and all construction units, including China MCC22 Group Co., Ltd., for their arduous efforts and dedication. They expressed hope that all parties would collaborate closely, focusing on construction while simultaneously ensuring epidemic prevention measures. It is essential to prioritize safety, ensure quality, and maintain progress. Through concerted efforts and meticulous organization, the Phase III project must be completed on schedule and successfully concluded. This will provide a warm and comfortable learning and living environment for the Institute’s faculty and students and deliver a satisfactory outcome for both Beijing Jiaotong University and the Tangshan Municipal Government. It encompasses numerous undertakings including new constructions, renovation works, and outdoor projects. The project officially commenced on March 15 and is scheduled for completion and operational readiness by the end of August this year. Upon completion of Phase III, the Institute will have the capacity to accommodate 4,500 faculty and students, host over 10,000 trainees annually, and house approximately 70 laboratories. This will enable it to better provide scientific research, teaching, and training services for Beijing Jiaotong University. It lays a solid foundation for building the Institute into a domestically first-class innovative research institute and provides strong support for Beijing Jiaotong University’s new round of the “Double First-Class” initiative.
