Students from Department of Communication Studies Win Awards at 2022 College Awards of China University Advertising Art Festival

The selection results of the 2022 Autumn Competition of the College Awards of China University Advertising Art Festival were recently announced. Students from the Department of Communication Studies in our School of Languages and Communication Studies achieved remarkable success, winning 5 Excellence Awards and 1 Finalist Award. Faculty members Wen Weihua and Wang Xiaopei were honored with the Outstanding Advisor Award. Additionally, in the earlier 2022 Spring Competition of the College Awards and the National College Advertising Art Competition, students from the Department of Communication Studies also achieved outstanding results. These outstanding achievements are attributed to the guidance provided by specialized courses such as New Media Advertising, Audio-Visual Language, and Introduction to New Media. These courses integrate theory with practice, playing a crucial role in cultivating students’ creative thinking, advertising planning, and production capabilities. In teaching, ideological and political elements, theoretical instruction, and practical training are organically combined. Active exploration of the teaching model reform of “promoting teaching through competitions and promoting learning through competitions” has been conducted. By aligning with national-level advertising competitions such as the National College Advertising Art Competition and the College Awards of China University Advertising Art Festival, classroom teaching content has been optimized. This approach stimulates students’ learning interest, enhances their practical skills, and enriches their innovation and entrepreneurship experience, thereby improving the quality of education and teaching.

Competition Introduction:
The College Awards of China University Advertising Art Festival is a national-level advertising award for university students. It invites students from universities across the country to engage in proposition-based creativity for well-known domestic and international enterprises, creating a professional platform for students in advertising, marketing, communication, art, design, new media, animation, and related fields. It holds extensive influence among communication studies and advertising-related programs and students in China.

The National College Advertising Art Competition has successfully held 14 editions with 15 events. It is a national liberal arts competition for colleges and universities that, to date, boasts the largest scale, the broadest coverage of higher education institutions, the highest number of participating teachers and students, the highest caliber of works, the greatest popularity among college teachers, and significant social influence.
