2022-04-29 Tangshan Research Institute of Beijing Jiaotong University Conducts Safety Inspection Ahead of May Day.

On the morning of April 29, in order to effectively prevent various safety incidents, eliminate potential hazards, strengthen the Institute’s safety protocols, rigorously implement epidemic prevention and control measures, and ensure the normal operation of all tasks during the holiday period, Vice Deans Dong Jingzhu and Yao Kai of the Tangshan Research Institute of Beijing Jiaotong University led a comprehensive safety inspection team ahead of the May Day holiday. The Institute issued the Notice on Strictly Implementing Epidemic Prevention and Control Measures During the May Day Holiday in advance, arranged duty schedules, and rigorously enforced standardized epidemic management protocols, including closed-loop personnel management and 24-hour campus closure during the holiday period. The inspection covered multiple areas including the Information Building, Central Control Room, Zhixing Building, Siyuan Building B, student and faculty apartments, the Electrical Engineering Laboratory Building, the Mechatronics Innovation Park, and the West Gate security post. A comprehensive check was conducted on safety aspects concerning epidemic prevention, teaching, scientific research, hygiene, fire safety, food safety, and security. Dong Jingzhu and Yao Kai, leading the inspection team, meticulously examined the management of the apartment buildings and the registration records at various security posts. They reiterated the need to strengthen access control, strictly implement epidemic prevention protocols, increase the frequency and intensity of campus patrols, and promptly address any unusual situations. The inspection also involved a thorough review of hygiene, disinfection, and food safety in the Institute's dining facilities. It specifically focused on the implementation of procedures for procurement, transportation and storage of supplies, cooking and meal preparation, utensil sanitation, and food sample retention, aiming to strictly prevent any food safety issues. The inspection team carefully examined key areas prone to fire hazards, such as equipment rooms, laboratories, offices, and student apartments. They ensured that fire exits, evacuation staircases, and safety exits were unobstructed, that evacuation doors were not locked, and that emergency lights, illumination lights, fire hydrants, fire extinguishers, and other firefighting equipment were properly positioned, in good condition, fully functional, and available in sufficient quantities. The inspection also placed particular emphasis on identifying potential electrical fire risks and checking the environmental hygiene of office and residential spaces. Issues discovered, such as poor indoor sanitation, unauthorized and haphazard electrical wiring, and the use of high-power electrical appliances in violation of regulations, were documented in detail. Responsible personnel were promptly designated to carry out rectifications. Heads of the Institute’s Finance Office, Personnel Office, Asset Management Office, General Affairs Office, Training Department, Science and Technology Development Department, and Information Center, along with relevant staff from the Safety and Stability Office, participated in this inspection activity.
