Thematic Education at the School of Languages and Communication] School of Languages and Communication Studies Organizes Collective Film Screening of “My People, My Country” for Party Members

On the afternoon of October 10th, the Party Committee of the School of Language and Communication Studies held a Party Day activity with the theme of “remain true to our original aspiration and keep our mission firmly in mind”, organizing all the Party members among the teachers and students as well as some active applicants to watch the film "My People, My Country" together.

As a National Day tribute film, “My People, My Country” records one historical moment after another in the 70 years since the founding of the People’ s Republic of China through seven groups of stories, including the founding of the People’ s Republic of China, the successful explosion of China’ s first atomic bomb, the Chinese women’ s volleyball team’ s Olympic championship, the return of Hong Kong, the opening of the Beijing Olympics, the successful landing of the return capsule of the Shenzhou-11 spacecraft, and the Tiananmen military parade and other major events. The film takes a narrative approach from the perspective of ordinary people, with the behind-the-scenes figures of major events, unknown little people or ordinary people as the main characters, depicting their daily lives and introducing the historical moments related to them. This film is steeped in a strong sense of patriotism, profoundly demonstrating the close connection between personal opportunities and national development, and has evoked emotional resonance among the audience. The cinema was filled with laughter, tears and applause.

After the film screening, the Party members among the teachers and students all expressed that they were deeply moved. Student Party member representative Gong Chunyan said, “After watching the film ‘My People, My Country’, I was deeply touched.” I have learned that all the achievements since the founding of the People’ s Republic of China would not have been possible without the support and dedication of the people. Whether it is the national defense confidence from the atomic bomb explosion, the spiritual encouragement from the women's volleyball team’ s championship, or the poverty alleviation path of the daytime shooting star, all these make me more convinced that the road to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation will surely lead to success!” Teacher Party member representative Sun Shuangxing said, “After watching it, I was deeply moved. The prosperity and strength of our motherland cannot be achieved without the joint efforts of every Chinese compatriot.” The great leaders standing on the stage, the Olympic champions on the podium, and the space heroes returning victorious are important driving forces for the progress of the country. The designers standing behind the national flag, the builders of the country’ s architecture, the scientists hidden behind the scientific research cause, the cadres rooted in the grassroots, the prodigal sons who have returned, and every Chinese person who sincerely takes pride in and cheers for the country’ s progress are all indispensable Chinese forces!”

This film viewing is one of the key components of the “remain true to our original aspiration and keep our mission firmly in mind”, theme education activity of the School of Language and Communication Studies. It aims to, through a lively and novel form, deeply study and implement the Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era at the important time point of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’ s Republic of China, cultivate the political character of loyalty, integrity and responsibility, enhance the sense of responsibility of all Party members among teachers and students, and remain true to our original aspiration and serve the country through education!
