Department of Communication Studies

Holds the First Frontier Lecture for the Class of 2025

On September 12, 2025, Professor Zhang Zixuan from the Department of Communication Studies delivered a thematic lecture titled "Convergence Media Reporting on the September 3 Military Parade" to the Class of 2025 Top-Talent Program students. In this academic event that deeply integrated theory with practice, Professor Zhang provided freshmen with unique professional insights into the practical strategies of converged media communication.

The lecture focused on explaining the "sustained operation" nature of converged media work, emphasizing that effectiveness in converged media communication requires long-term, concentrated efforts and systematic advancement. Using carefully prepared multimedia materials, Professor Zhang conducted an in-depth analysis from three dimensions: multi-platform, multi-perspective, and multi-phase. The presentation of news images and videos vividly demonstrated strategic choices for effective communication when dealing with different narrative subjects and objects. She stressed that converged media communication requires mastering the "fundamental principles"and that only by deeply understanding the strategic objectives and audience psychology—the underlying logic—can converged media communication be achieved in the vast sea of information effectively. Furthermore, she encouraged the students to play to their talents in the field of converged media and realize their professional ideals.

As the first session in the Frontier Lecture Series for the Class of 2025, this lecture was chaired by Professor Li Bing, Chair of the Department. It not only provided students with a profound understanding of practical strategies for converged media communication in the intelligent era, but also sparked their strong interest in converged media reporting. The Series will invite more faculty members from the Department to engage in in-depth exchanges with students in subsequent sessions.
