On the afternoon of April 1st, 2021, Huang Taiyan, Party Secretary of our university, met with visiting Sudanese Ambassador to China jaafar caral Ahmed Karar and his party in Siyuan Building, accompanied by Vice President Guan Zhongliang.

Huang Taiyan welcomed the visit of the ambassador and introduced the historical evolution, advantageous disciplines, personnel training, scientific research and service to the national rail transit industry of our university. Sudan is an important strategic partner of China in Africa, and we has always maintained friendly and cooperative relations with Sudanese universities. He hoped to further deepen the cooperation between us and Sudanese universities and scientific research institutions in the future, and promote the cooperation in rail transit personnel training and other aspects.

Jaafar caral Ahmed first thanked the warm reception of our university. Then he showed that the long history of friendship between China and Sudan can be traced back to the Western Han Dynasty, and today's "the belt and road initiative" provides a guarantee and a broad platform for cooperation between China and Sudan. At the same time, He expressed his appreciation for our contribution in personnel training, scientific research and service to national rail transit. He wished to continue to expand exchanges between students and teachers in the future and promote cooperation in railway college construction and railway personnel training between us.

Relevant faculty and staff of the office of International Affairs, College of International Education and other units attended the meeting.

Dr jaafar caral Ahmed, Sudan's ambassador to China since July 2020, is the 12th Sudan's ambassador to China. He is a scholar-type diplomat, a doctor of international relations at Nanjing University and a postdoctoral fellow in the Department of History of Peking University. He is currently an adjunct professor at the Middle East Institute of Shanghai International Studies University, a member of the Institute of Arab Islamic Culture in Peking University, and a visiting professor at the Institute of Nationalities of Nanjing University. He is also a member of the Sudan Studies Center (Khartoum) and a senior expert in Asian affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar. He used to be the Minister Counsellor in charge of China affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sudan.
