The Successful Signing Ceremony of the Joint Training Agreement for Undergraduate Double Degrees Between Beijing Jiaotong University and Universiti Malaysia Pahang

On the afternoon of April 28th, 2021,  Universiti Malaysia Pahang and us held the signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement for joint training of undergraduate and double degrees. The two universities carried out the undergraduate 2.5+2 double-degree joint training program around three majors: civil engineering, vehicle engineering, electrical engineering and automation. Present at the signing ceremony were Wang Jiaqiong, President of our university; Datuk Husseini, Director of Malaysian Higher Education Department; Dansri Aduaz, Chairman of Universiti Malaysia Pahang; Wan Azha, President of Universiti Malaysia Pahang; Dansri Kairouadi, Director of Malaysian Public Service Bureau; Guan Zhongliang, Vice President of our university; Hou Chunxing, Education Counselor of Malaysian Embassy in China; relevant representatives of Chinese Embassy in Malaysia; and Rosri, Vice President of Universiti Malaysia Pahang and so on.

Wang Jiaqiong said that the East Coast Railway jointly built by China and Malaysia is proceeding in an orderly manner with the deepening of China's "The Belt and Road". The joint training project of railway major with double degrees jointly developed by the two universities can provide railway talents for the construction of Malaysia's east coast railway project, which is of great significance. He hoped that the two universities would take the opportunity of signing the cooperation agreement of double degrees in railway major to carry out more pragmatic cooperation in the fields of joint training of students, teacher training, academic exchanges and cooperative scientific research in the future, so as to provide railway talent resources for the construction of Malaysia's east coast railway project and benefit the two peoples.

With the orderly development of the East Coast Railway jointly built by China and Malaysia, Malaysia's demand for railway talents has further increased. Wan Azha said that the signing ceremony of the two universities' double-degree cooperation agreement is a milestone for Universiti Malaysia Pahang to move towards internationalization, because Universiti Malaysia Pahang is currently implementing its five-year development strategic plan. The international cooperation with the top universities in China's railway field will play a key role in expanding its global influence in the future, and he hoped to further deepen all-round cooperation with our university in the future.

Danseri Kerouadi spoke that the COVID-19 epidemic had a serious impact on Malaysian society and economy, and it also brought severe challenges to the whole world. Therefore, the transportation sector, especially the railway sector, plays a vital role in Malaysia's economic recovery. He looked forward to the success of the double-degree cooperation project between the two universities, and promoted the increasing employment demand of Malaysian railway industry and the whole society.

President Wang signed a cooperation agreement with Universiti Malaysia Pahang on behalf of our university after the speech.

University Malaysia Pahang (UMP for short) is one of the 20 public universities in Malaysia, whose predecessor was a branch of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. In 2002, it was upgraded to an independent public university, specializing in engineering and technology. The university is located on the east coast of Pahang Prefecture, with two campuses, Ganmeng and Beigan. There are about 10,000 students and 3,000 faculty members there, and it is consisted of School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, School of Mechanical Engineering, School of Civil Engineering and Land Resources, School of Chemical and Natural Resources Engineering, School of Computer System and Software Engineering, School of Manufacturing Engineering and Technology Management, School of Science and Industrial Technology, Continuing Education Center, Graduate Center, Modern Language Center, etc.
