School of Languages and Communication Studies Completes 2025 Undergraduate Orientation [2025-08-30]

On August 24, the School of Languages and Communication Studies welcomed its 2025 undergraduate cohort, with 42 new students arriving on campus to begin their university journey. Through coordination between class advisors, faculty members, and supporting staff, the School ensured all orientation activities were efficiently implemented, establishing a solid foundation for the students' academic careers.

To create a welcoming atmosphere, the School initiated thorough preparations in advance. Freshman counselors, class assistants, and volunteers returned to campus early to prepare the welcome area, customize enrollment souvenirs, arrange dormitory name tags, organize registration materials, and set up service stations. Through thoughtful arrangements and detailed services, they demonstrated the School's commitment to student care.

On orientation day, the School's leadership visited the new students' dormitories, speaking warmly with students and their parents. They inquired about accommodation conditions and practical needs while offering guidance on academic planning and campus life based on the School's educational experience.

That afternoon, the School held a parents' meeting in Room 201 of Siyuan West Building. Party Secretary Sun Wenbo welcomed the parents and introduced the School's development history, disciplinary strengths, and educational philosophy. He encouraged parents to serve as "growth guardians," "heart-to-heart communicators," and "educational partners" with the School. Vice Dean Liu Kai explained student development and undergraduate education management, Vice Dean Hao Yunhui presented research and international exchange opportunities, and Deputy Party Secretary Wen Yingchun detailed student services and orientation arrangements. The meeting concluded with a "First Letter to Your Child at University" session, where parents wrote their expectations and blessings on postcards.

On the registration evening, each class held its first in-person meeting. The School's leadership visited each class, encouraging students to cherish their time, plan their studies wisely, uphold the "Learn and Practice" motto, and strive to become talents serving China's cultural communication needs. Class advisors introduced the curriculum system, practical platforms, and career directions, guiding students to establish clear development goals.

The successful orientation has prepared new students well for university life. The School will continue to conduct orientation activities, embodying its motto of "Excellence in Language, Pursuit of Truth," helping students find their positioning in language and cultural communication, and cultivating interdisciplinary talents with both professional competence and national commitment.
